Action Drive is a scrapped Namco game and one of Keita Takahashi's first projects at Namco. Keita had brainstormed a concept for the game, but his idea was turned down and later the whole game. However, the designs for Keita Takahashi's idea for Action Drive were used for Katamari Damacy.

Plot[]

The plot of Action Drive would have surrounded The Queen being kidnapped by evil human scientists on Earth, and The King being too lazy to find her himself. As a solution, The King sneaks The Prince onto Earth to rescue her. However, because of his small size, this isn't an easy task. As a solution, The Prince would place a controller onto a human's head[1], and drive around, crashing into objects.

Gameplay[]

Due to the game never reaching the development stage, there is no footage to show. However, the game would have been a driving game, similar to Crazy Taxi[2], with the objective of destroying surrounding objects and buildings by crashing into them. The Prince would "human-jack" (hijack + human) a person by plugging a controller on their head, and continue to have the human drive and crash into objects. The Prince's head was designed to be shaped as a hammer to stun the human[3], making it easier to hijack them[4]. The concept sketches were shown at Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2005.[5]
