Noby Noby Boy (のびのびBOY, Nobi Nobi Boy) is a video game for the PlayStation 3 by Keita Takahashi, creator of the Katamari series. The game was released worldwide on February 19, 2009. Oddly enough, the game was been delisted from the Playstation Store around April of 2018, and can no longer be purchased or downloaded.
Gameplay[]
The character controls Boy, a long worm-like character who goes around, eating random objects that so happen to be around. You can save and quit the game by going into Boy's house. When Boy eats an object, he'll get longer. When he's long enough, he can eat bigger objects, including houses and clouds. Objects must be eventually be ejected from Boy with a certain button. The goal is to eat enough and then connect to the internet, putting up Boy's length to add to the grand total of all of the player's lengths. This would, in turn, add to Girl's length, another worm-esque character who has hearts all over her and also wears a bow. The grand goal was to stop by every planet in the milky way, get to the sun, then head back to earth. This end goal was reached on December 14th, 2015, about six years after the release date.
Trivia[]
- Noby Noby Boy had an iOS game (which has been taken off of the app store) where you simply stretched Boy around the screen, drew, listened to music and more.
- Characters resembling the Prince, Odeko, Ace, Havana and/or Foomin appear if a level is reloaded enough times.
- Noby Noby Boy is referenced in Tap My Katamari with a scarf present designed after BOY.[1]
- A real 2-piece scarf given away in a campaign for Katamari Forever most likely inspired this reference.
