We ♥ Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie (known as Everybody Loves Katamari Damacy Encore+: The King's Petite Memory (みんな大好き塊魂アンコール＋ 王様プチメモリー, Minna Daisuki Katamari Damashii Ankōru Purasu Ōsama Puchimemorī) in Japan) is a remake of the PlayStation 2 exclusive, We ♥ Katamari.[1]
Besides the new 16:9 aspect ratio and visuals being upscaled, there are many additional changes from the original game.
Similar to the remaster of the first game, The Prince, his Cousins, and The Queen of All Cosmos had all their designs changed to be faithful to Keita Takahashi's artwork, their headwear, eyes, and mouths now being more rounded.
You can now select fans via a quick menu, rather then having to walk to them in the Select Meadow.
You can now make a playlist of favorite music in the music player.
You can now show when the next size-up zone is, as well as where the barrier is.
Five new challenges where you play as the young King of All Cosmos, under the name Royal Reverie, have been added.
Prince Look has been reworked, now adding a selfie mode activated with L3 (on PS4/5). You can use this revamped photo mode to find stickers, which unlock new frames and filters for the photo mode.
The Cousins' Planets, which were previously only in the PAL release of the original game, due to those regions not getting the first one, are now in all versions of the game. The player can now transfer star data from Katamari Damacy REROLL.
A feature, first present in Katamari Forever features the ability to switch between two different visual styles.
Gorgeous - Default visual style for the game. Features a variety of changes that modernizes the game's graphic such as real time shadows and improved lighting.
Usual - Changes the visuals to resemble the original game.
Royal Reverie is a game mode which allows you to play as the young King. Different stages based on the cutscenes are made to be more difficult than the normal stages. Beating a Royal Reverie stage will automatically give you a special present unobtainable anywhere else.
Errors[]
Ace's non-existent spikey-butt
Unfortunately, multiple errors due to negligence appears within the game:
Ace's description mentions his spiky butt, though his model is exactly the same as his Katamari Damacy model.
Huey's legs have knees.
In the One-Million Roses stage, the vending machine dispenses cans which can be rolled up.
The roll-up sounds and alarm are pitched down. However, in the Underwater stage, the pitch is correct.
In the Credits minigame, the Queen's ending quote is completely rewritten. She uses the Royal We and has the King's speech pattern.
The original quote in We ♥️ Katamari says: "The fans look so happy♥️ That’s because they’re all rolled up in a katamari, after all. That was another one of my ideas. Isn’t it dreamy?” Whereas the new quote says "The fans are having so much fun♥️ They're all rolled into the katamari, after all. It was Our idea. Amazing, no?"
